Job Summary
Responsible for the planning, scheduling, progress measurement, and analysis of either a single major project or a portfolio of several smaller projects. By utilizing and understanding the policies, methods, and procedures of Project Controls Best Practices this position will contribute to the completion of a project on time, on budget, and a quality that meets or exceeds customer's expectations, helping to ensure the company's success and establishment of a loyal customer.
Working with the project team, the Project Controls Group will lead the effort of generating the baseline schedule in P6 as well as setting up the resource / cost loading of the schedule when required by the customer.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop, monitor, and update integrated project plans and schedules so that projects can be executed in the most efficient manner possible as well as monitor schedule deviations and variances and assist in developing alternate methods for corrective action.
- Review schedules with project team members on a regular basis to ensure that accurate and timely data is incorporated in the schedule.
- Analyze schedules from A/E firms, Vendors and General Contractors. Verify schedule integrity and evaluate logic and float paths and analyze change orders for schedule impacts.
- Perform jobsite walks to verify physical progress of scheduled activities.
- Work closely with various disciplines in project teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the schedules produced without compromising your independence as a planning engineer so you're able to advise project management on issues requiring judgment.
- Candidate will need to balance multiple projects that will likely be executed in multiple locations and by multiple contractors. Candidates must be flexible and able to balance / prioritize multiple priorities.
- Provide interface and quality assurance to Project functional groups and contractors regarding the tracking and reporting of schedule performance.
The successful candidate possesses:
- Excellent verbal, written, & technical communication is a must
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Construction-related technical knowledge is a must
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Attention to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
- Knowledge of Project Controls processes and best practices a plus.
- *Ability to read and understand construction drawings is a must*
- Ability to sequence a construction project in regard to the hierarchy of MEP systems are installed in the field
- Ability to build a schedule from beginning using construction drawings, renderings, and/or one / single line diagrams
- *Willingness to provide examples of previous projects the candidate has solely scheduled and discuss the how and why the schedule was set up in such manner*
Education & Additional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in construction project engineering or project management.
- Basic working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Proficient with usage of scheduling/document management databases (e.g., P6, Procore)
- Advanced knowledge of all general construction methods including but not limited to concrete, ironwork, masonry, etc.
